Will this hurt my child?
As parents, your top concern is your baby’s safety. The answer is simple: No, Craniosacral Therapy will not hurt your baby.
I use very light pressure—often no more than the weight of a nickel (about 5 grams). This gentle touch allows me to assess and support your baby’s body without interfering with its natural rhythms. Adjustments are so subtle that many babies find the process calming and enjoyable.
What is your training?
I completed a 3-year, 710-hour Craniosacral Therapy program through the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Association of North America. This program is similar in length to a massage therapy training program in Oregon. Additionally, I have 84 hours of specialized training in Infant CST from the Carol Gray Center for CST Studies.
What about tongue tie?
Tongue tie is a common condition these days and one that is multi layered. When it comes to working with the frenulum, CST cannot elongate or add elasticity to this tissue. However, there are many conditions that masquerade as tongue tie and many other tissues and structures that CST can address that will often improve the function of an infant's tongue and its ability to feed successfully. I have been trained to assess for Tongue Tie through the Hazelbaker Lactation Institute and if I asses a tongue tie while working with your infant, I will refer you out for diagnosis and potential treatment. An infant's ability to feed early in their life is of paramount importance.
How long have you been in practice?
I’ve been practicing professionally since 2019.
What makes you want to work with infants?
When my son was born, I saw the power that craniosacral therapy can offer to infants firsthand. I was astounded by what could shift in such a short amount of time. It is clear to me that making a difference in this way early on does amazing things for the lives of our children and the lives of their caretakers.
How long does a session typically last?
Infant CST sessions usually last about 75 minutes.
What should I expect during a session?
We’ll begin by discussing your concerns, your baby’s history (including pregnancy and birth), and how parenting is going. Then, we’ll transition to hands-on work with your baby, taking breaks as needed for feeding, diaper changes, or comfort.
Is CST safe for newborns?
Yes, CST is very gentle and safe—even for babies just days old.
Is there an age limit for CST?
Yes. Once babies are crawling, it becomes more challenging to work with them. However, pre-crawlers are always welcome!
How many sessions will my baby need?
This depends on the specific concerns, but most issues show improvement within 1–3 sessions.
Do you do house calls?
Yes! In fact, I currently work exclusively through house calls to better support infants and their families.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, I am unable to accept insurance.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Not currently, but I do offer a monthly free Infant CST clinic. Click here to sign up for a spot.
Do I need to bring anything to the session?
Just yourself, your baby, and essentials like diapers, burp cloths, or anything you need to care for your baby during the session.
Can I feed my baby during the session?
Absolutely! Feeding is welcomed and, depending on your comfort level, I may continue gentle treatment during feeding if it aligns with the session goals.
What if my baby cries or becomes fussy during the session?
Crying is a normal form of communication, whether it’s due to hunger, tiredness, or release of tension. We’ll pause as needed to address their needs, and most babies leave the session calm and content.
Is CST a replacement for medical care?
No. CST is a complementary therapy and works alongside traditional medical care and treatment.
Can I stay with my baby during the session?
Yes! You will always remain with your baby throughout the session.
What if my baby has a medical condition or is on medication?
I’m happy to collaborate with your baby’s medical providers to ensure their care is fully supported.
Is masking required?
No. As of 4/3/23 the state of Oregon is no longer requiring masking in medical facilities. However, I am happy to wear one upon request.
